Lim Hwee Tiong林辉忠

Lim Hwee Tiong’s graduated in 1976 from the Singapore Academy of Art. In 1978, he held his first Solo Exhibition at the National Museum of Singapore, officially opened by the President of NTU, Dr. Cham Tao Soon. From then till the 80s, his watercolor paintings received the Special Award at the National Day Art Exhibition organized by Ministry of Culture, ‘Tan Tze Chor Art Scholarship’, First Prize in UOB Painting of The Year competition organized by the Ministry of Culture and the United Overseas Bank, three Special Awards organized by Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts Alumni Association and his works was also selected by renowned Singapore artist Mr. Tan Swie Hian and the French Embassy (Cultural Section) for exhibition in ‘Artistes Contemporains De Singapore Au Grand Palais’, held in the Louvre Museum Paris, France. In the 90s, he was commissioned by NTU Museum to create a series of works on the new campus landscape. His biography “The Art of Lim Hwee Tiong - Conversations on 50 Years of Painting Singapore” was published in 2022 and is now a collection in National Library Board reference section. In 2024, he participated in a joint exhibition with Emi Avora & Fu Yi-Bing at Olal’Art, and a China, Singapore and Malaysia renowned artist exchange exhibition organised by the Chinese Art Society of Fine Arts Calligraphy and Painting Committee in China. His works were also exhibited in the recent Eau La La!!! Art Capital Exhibition at Grand Palais - Paris, France from 18 to 22 February 2025 and had also participated in the 15th Asia Art Alliance Exhibition 2025 in Taoyuan, Aat Vogue D’Nation. He continues to paint on the streets every weekend and is actively exploring alternative ways of expression through watercolor and mix media.
