Phyllis has actively pursued watercolour painting for more than 10 years, starting in 2011. Throughout this period, she has delved into a wide array of subjects, including natural landscapes, urban scenes, flowers, still life, and portraits.
Initially pursued as a hobby while working as a Business IT lecturer, Phyllis has successfully transformed her passion into a beloved business endeavour. Two years ago, she made the decision to leave her full-time job and embark on a career as a freelance watercolour teacher and artist. Her aspiration is to inspire and assist more individuals in finding joy in painting by sharing her knowledge, experience, and drawing upon her background as a former teacher.
In 2017, Phyllis was admitted into the Singapore Watercolour Society and currently serves as the Secretary-General on the society's committee. She participates in annual exhibitions with the society as well as various art galleries and societies, successfully selling her artwork during these events. She also auctioned her paintings at fund-raising charity events.
Phyllis's artwork can be found in various publications and platforms. Her works were featured in the Our Neighbourhood Series by Epigram Books, the Urban Sketchers Singapore Volume 2 book, and the "Let's Draw Singapore" book commemorating Singapore's 50 years of nation building. Furthermore, her pieces were selected to grace the cover of the Contact South East community magazine and featured on postcards distributed as memorabilia for community events.
To further showcase her creativity and share her artistic journey, Phyllis maintains a website where she displays her works and blogs about her creative process and techniques. She also actively engages with her audience on social media.
