Michelle Yong’s work is shaped by close observation of nature, memory, and the quiet beauty found in everyday surroundings.

Largely self-taught, Michelle works across watercolour, coloured pencil, and acrylic. While her current body of work spans several media, she is continuing to develop her watercolour practice through learning with artist Seah Kam Chuan and her own continued exploration.

Her subjects often include birds, botanicals, and familiar urban moments. She is drawn to small or overlooked details, bringing them closer to the viewer through a sense of tenderness, stillness, and emotional presence.

In 2026 , her watercolour painting “The unexpected visitors bring music of joy” received a Merit Award at the 19th International Art Awards Exhibition, Tokyo. The painting reflects her interest in the small joys of urban life, where even tiny sparrows can soften the noise of the city.

As a member of the Singapore Watercolour Society, Michelle hopes to deepen her practice and contribute meaningfully to the local watercolour community.
