Lim Hwee Tiong (b. 1950) is a distinguished Singaporean artist whose six-decade career is defined by a profound evolution from classical mastery to contemporary abstraction. While he established a strong foundation in traditional watercolour—graduating from the Singapore Academy of Art and winning the First Prize in the 1985 UOB Painting of the Year Competition (Representation Category)—his recent practice has shifted toward bold, experimental mixed media. His works are held in the permanent collection of the National Gallery Singapore, the United Overseas Bank Group, and Nanyang Technological University.
Currently active on the global stage, Lim represented Singapore at the Art Capital Exhibition at the Grand Palais, Paris in 1986, 2025, and 2026. His 2026 milestones include an invitation to the Modern Art Society Singapore’s 61st Annual Exhibition and selection for the landmark "Artist’s Proof: Singapore at 60" (AP60) project, curated by Kwok Kian Chow.
