Background

I began painting as a child in primary school and continued in Secondary School and Pre University studying Art subject. I had passion for Art but did not pursue it during my work life. After completing my studies in law I became a lawyer practicing in Singapore since October 1984 till now. I returned to my passion for Art sometime in late 2018 and did oil painting/portraiture at My Art Space and still life under Artist Wee Shoo Leong.

Watercolour Journey

I began as an urban sketcher with USKsg sometime in 2019 and have attended local weekly sessions and regional events/workshops at Asialink Penang and Asialink Phuket in 2024 and 2025 respectively. Ink and wash-watercolour was primary in urban sketching. I have completed figure drawing/portraiture in watercolour and have taken part in Exhibition Draw to Lifein 2024. Sometime in 2020 I started to paint Watercolour and began learning from Uhky Uhky at My Art Space. I have completed figure drawing/portraiture in watercolour and have taken part in Exhibition Draw to Life in 2024. I attended sketch/watercolour classes via zoom under Mr. Khoo Cheang Jin in 2024 for half year or more. I have been inspired by Mr. Khoo teachings and guidance in sketching and watercolour. Thereafter, in mid-2025 I continued to learn watercolour basics from Li Ching Heng of NAFA Adjunct Lecturer/ Schminke Brand Demonstrator. I have attended Alvaro Castagnet inspirational watercolour workshop in late September 2025. I have learnt from Alvaro the principles of designing the focal point with emotion, mood and creativity to achieve an atmospheric watercolour painting. I have learnt that at least 10,000 hours of practice in watercolour paintings is necessary to achieve good standard in watercolour painting. I have attended in October 2025 workshop by Wee Xian where I learnt to paint night scene in watercolour. I have been painting in watercolour medium for some last six (6) years since 2019 cityscapes, landscapes, figure drawings and portraiture.
