Alan Long, the impressionist, has more than thirty years of painting experience. He had received formal art education when he was a teenager from two famous Singapore pioneer artists, the late Mr Chen Chong Swee and Dr Chen Wen Hsi as well as the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts. Mr Lim Mu Hue was one of his teachers at the academy.
As a nature lover, who appreciates beautiful country scenes, the scenic natural environment is his favourite subject. Alan paints both urban and country landscapes as well as seascapes either in oil or watercolour.
Alan has won numerous international awards. The first award was a Bronze Medal from the Society for Art in Education of Tokyo in Japan in 1966 when he was a student. The most recent one was an award for the Seascapes, Rivers and Lakes Painting Competition organized by the Australian Artist Magazine. His winning oil painting Scenic River View was published in the magazine’s 213th issue, March 2002.
Alan has been exhibiting his works in Australia, Singapore, Hong Kong, China, Japan and Germany. He has museums, institutions, private organizations and individuals as his art collectors in various countries.
