Graduated from Shanghai University, China where he majored in both Eastern and Western paintings. During his 40 years of teaching at the Teacher's Training College, Ngee Ann College, NAFA and Chung Hwa Secondary School, he still found time for painting. His specialized in still life and floral subjects and he participated in various local and overseas exhibitions. He was a founder member and for many years, held the post of President of the Singapore Watercolour Society.
